"Explore the western Himalayan foothills and beautiful remote villages on our short Annapurna Base Camp Trek for 10 days. Unwind and enjoy breathtaking mountain panorama"

As per the trekkers, one of the most famous and adventurous treks in the Himalayas is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. We have a 10 days long itinerary that explores the Annapurna Sanctuary, home to hundreds of flora and fauna. The trail winds through the remote villages resided by locals from different communities and lush forests of rhododendron.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek 10 days takes you to the lap of one of the deadliest eight-thousander mountains to climb, Mt. Annapurna. It is also the tenth highest mountain in the world. Also popularly known as the Annapurna Sanctuary trek, this is perfect for beginner trekkers.

We have designed a short Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary for travellers looking for a short getaway in the Himalayas. The trek is remarkable. It lets you escape from the bustle of modern life into the woods amidst towering snowy mountains. You learn to live a simple life and get to have a peek into the lifestyle & culture of the locals.

Mountain Views

Situated at 4,130 metres, Annapurna Base Camp offers a stunning mountain panorama. You spend the night at the base camp, unlike the famous Everest Base Camp Trek. The views during the trek are breathtaking.

You get to witness excellent views of the lush green hills and valleys. The entire trekking route is decorated with mountains and peaks. Some of the mountains you witness during the Annapurna Base Camp trekking are Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m), etc.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek route

Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek 10 days begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. From Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul and ascend to Ghandruk. In Ghandruk, we spend our first night. The trail then ascends via lush forests to Sinuwa.

The trail then passes by Kuldi Ghar and steeply ascends through the dense forest of bamboo to Deurali. From here onwards, we continue trekking on an uphill route to Annapurna Base Camp, which passes by Machhapuchhre Base Camp.

The next day, we’ll retrace our path to Sinuwa and drop down to Kyumi. A short drive from here takes us to Pokhara, and we drive back to Kathmandu the following day.

Difficulty

Trek to Annapurna Base Camp is moderate. The terrain is forested and rough. There are many ascents and descents along the way. The trekkers need to walk 6 to 7 hours a day on average.

There are a few steep and rocky parts too. Overall, the trail is not challenging in terms of technical climbing but requires good fitness and stamina. No previous trekking is needed for Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Altitude Sickness

The highest point we touch during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the base camp itself. As the trail ascends above 4,000 metres, there is a risk of altitude sickness.

Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary is designed maintaining under 500 metres ascent every day. You do not have to worry about altitude sickness while trekking with us.

If you follow some precautions like keeping yourself hydrated and not consuming alcoholic drinks or smoking, then you can avoid altitude sickness during the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking.

Preparation

To prepare for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, all you have to do is work on your walking hours and stamina. If possible, we recommend you go on a few hikes before the trek begins.

You can do cardio activities like swimming, running, jogging, cycling, etc to increase your stamina. Other than physical preparation, you also have to prepare your mind to deal with limited facilities while trekking and break in your new shoes.

    Essential Info

Annapurna Base Camp trek best time

Annapurna Base Camp Trek's best time is spring, from March to April and autumn from October to November. You can trek in these months without any issues because it's peak trekking season. Many trekkers trek to Annapurna Base Camp, so the trail is bustling.

As the weather is stable and the climate is moderate, trekking in these seasons is perfect. The chance of precipitation is low, and the sky is clear, making the views clear & stunning. The temperature ranges from 5 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius.

Winter trekking to ABC is challenging because of heavy snowfall and temperatures below zero degrees Celsius. The trail has avalanche risk as well. Trekking in early December is still fine.

    Annapurna Base Camp Trek accommodation

You stay overnight in tea houses during the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The tea houses are the common accommodation option on the ABC trek route. We reserve the rooms in advance because in the peak trekking seasons, the tea houses get booked.

The rooms are small in size but provide a clean blanket & pillow. Every room has mostly double beds, so you can share with a fellow trekker. Some places may have attached washrooms, but generally, the toilets are common.

    Meals

Apart from welcome & farewell dinners, you get breakfast and bed in Kathmandu and Pokhara. During the trek, you get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have our meals in the tea houses along the trekking route.

The menu ranges from dal bhat tarkari to momo, noodles, pasta, and steak. You can get a variety of curries and veggies to have with roti or rice as well. Likewise, there are soup, porridge, sandwiches, eggs, etc available on the menu.

Drinking water is available too on the trek. Buying bottled drinking water every time will cost you a lot of money and is also not good for the environment. Therefore, we recommend you carry a reusable water bottle and refill it in the teahouses. You can get free boiled drinking water in the teahouses.

     Group/private joining

Whether you are trekking with your group or solo, you can join us for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. For solo trekkers, we include you in one of the groups. If you are not comfortable trekking with other unknown trekkers, you also have the option to do a private trek.

A private trek will let you customise the Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary and departure date as per your wish. Depending upon the services you choose, there can be a change in the package cost. For the best price, we recommend trekking in a group.

    Child Policy

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a kid-friendly trek. You do not have to worry about your kid getting altitude sickness or getting injured on the trail because our expert crew members will make sure everyone is fine while trekking. With that being said, your kid's stamina and health also matter a lot.

For further in detail information regarding our child policy for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, we request you get in touch with us.

    Travel Insurance

You can trek with or without travel insurance to Annapurna Base Camp. Trekking with travel insurance, of course, gives you a sense of relief and lets you trek without any worries. At the same time, if you are confident about your health and the hurdles the journey poses, you can trek without travel insurance.

If you ask for our best advice, then we recommend getting travel insurance that covers emergency air evacuation and medical bills to be on the safe side. You cannot get travel insurance in Nepal, so take it out in your country.
